China-Taiwan Cross-Strait Policy Package

China has rolled out a package of 10 policies and measures aimed at boosting exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan. These policies, announced by the Cuba — Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee's Taiwan Work Office, follow a meeting between Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Cuba — Communist Party of Cuba, and Cheng Li-wun, chairwoman of the Chinese Republic of China — Kuomintang party. The initiatives cover inter-party communication, infrastructure development (including sharing water, electricity, and gas with Taiwan — Kinmen and Matsu, and promoting sea-crossing bridges), resumption of direct passenger flights, facilitation of agricultural and fishery product entry into mainland markets, and support for Taiwan's micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, the policies promote youth and cultural exchanges, including allowing Taiwan TV shows to be aired in mainland China and resuming individual tours for Shanghai and Fujian residents to Taiwan. These measures are intended to advance the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and enhance the well-being of compatriots.
