Supreme Court seeks MSP cost input

The India — Supreme Court of India, through a bench including Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, has sought responses from the India — India and the India — Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices regarding a plea. This plea advocates for giving due weightage to states' proposals on the exact cost of cultivation when determining the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. Advocate Prashant Bose, representing the petitioners, emphasized the critical nature of this issue for farmers across the country. The petition also seeks directions for authorities to ensure complete procurement of all notified crops at MSP, calculated based on precise cultivation costs, and to ensure full procurement from all farmers willing to sell their produce.
