The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has launched a comprehensive Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme in collaboration with the India — Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Lt Gen Virendra Vats, Director General of National Cadet Corps, and Dr Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General of India — Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The program aims to empower National Cadet Corps cadets with structured training in cyber awareness, digital hygiene, and practical cyber defense skills. It will be implemented in two stages: a 15-hour online Cyber Security Awareness Programme for all cadets and an intensive 60-hour offline Cyber Defender Programme for selected cadets. This initiative seeks to create a pool of trained 'cyber cadets' to spread cyber awareness, promote safe digital practices, and support cybersecurity initiatives at the grassroots level, aligning with India's national priorities under Digital India and the National Skills Qualification Framework. The program addresses India's serious cybersecurity challenges, including critical infrastructure vulnerability and a shortage of skilled professionals.
