Ngoshe Mass Abduction and Destruction

Over 400 residents, primarily women and children, were abducted from the Ngoshe community in Nigeria — Borno State, Nigeria, by Boko Haram, a Boko Haram faction, last month. The insurgents also destroyed the entire community and military posts. Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has repeatedly appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intensify efforts for the release of the abductees and the reconstruction of Ngoshe. While the Nigeria — Nigerian Army has since recovered the community, residents remain displaced and anxious to return. Nigeria — Borno State has committed N100 million for rehabilitation, but federal support from agencies like the United States — Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Nigeria — Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (Nigeria) is deemed crucial. Mohammed Ali Ndume also urged the United States and the international community to focus on terrorist strongholds in Nigeria — Borno State and called for a reinvigorated security strategy from the Bola Tinubu administration.
