Jitendra Singh releases medical textbook

Union Minister Jitendra Singh (politician) released the second edition of the postgraduate textbook 'Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition' in New Delhi. During the release, Jitendra Singh (politician) emphasized the critical need for a strong clinical foundation in medical education, even with the growing role of Artificial intelligence. He stated that Artificial intelligence can serve as a valuable enabler only when medical professionals first build sound clinical skills, cautioning against over-reliance on technology without grasping core medical concepts. The updated textbook, edited by Anupam Singh Gehlot and Sarath Gopalan, with a foreword by Kathleen B. Schwartz from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, has been expanded to 45 chapters, covering recent advances in pediatric gastrointestinal and liver disorders. The publication addresses the significant public health concern that nearly 30% of children visiting pediatricians suffer from such disorders, underscoring the importance of updated knowledge and specialized training in this field.
