Voltavate receives ARENA grant for battery

Voltavate has been awarded $3.55 million in grant funding from the Australia — Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), backed by the Australian Government. This funding will support Voltavate in advancing its new approach to battery manufacturing, specifically its separator technology, from laboratory development to pilot-scale production. The project aims to integrate Voltavate's separator technology into battery cells for independent performance and safety testing. This initiative addresses the increasing pressure on battery manufacturers to scale production while maintaining performance, cost, and supply chain resilience, particularly given the concentrated existing separator supply chains. Voltavate's platform allows battery manufacturers to produce their own separators in-house, reducing dependence on third-party suppliers and enabling tailored separator properties. This is expected to improve battery performance, including energy density and lifespan, and facilitate more efficient and scalable production. Amir Hooshang Taheri, CEO of Voltavate, and Darren Miller, CEO of ARENA, both highlighted the project's importance in strengthening Australia's role in the global battery value chain and accelerating the transition from innovation to real-world deployment.
