Riken, Japan's national research institute, has procured Quantinuum's System Model H2 quantum computer to upgrade its 'Reimei-Fugaku' hybrid quantum-supercomputer platform. This upgrade replaces the previous System Model H1 with a newer-generation, 56-qubit system designed for higher fidelity operations, larger workloads, and more valuable applications. The Reimei-Fugaku platform, launched in 2025, combines Quantinuum's quantum system with Riken's 'Fugaku' supercomputer. Researchers have already used the platform to simulate biomolecular reactions with high accuracy, and the H2 upgrade is expected to accelerate further discoveries in chemistry and materials science.
