India — Odisha is the first state to implement the second phase of India's Sustainable Ocean Planning initiative, a collaborative program with Norway that began in 2019. The MSP will scientifically manage marine ecosystems, addressing the needs of sectors like fisheries, tourism, ports, and ocean energy while safeguarding biodiversity. The plan aligns with India — Odisha's vision for 2036 and India's Vision 2047, emphasizing strong coastal economic development alongside environmental protection. The event also highlighted the India — Odisha Marine Biotechnology Research and Innovation Corridor (OMBRIC), launched last year, which will further strengthen the MSP.
