The collaboration between Utexo and X402 to integrate USDT is expected to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of stablecoin payments for machine-driven applications, potentially increasing the adoption of cryptocurrency in real-time transactions. This development could positively impact companies like Coinbase involved in the stablecoin ecosystem by broadening asset support and accelerating developer adoption.
Utexo, a Bitcoin-native execution and settlement layer for stablecoin payments, announced a collaboration with X402, an open payment protocol. This partnership brings USDT compatibility to the X402 payment protocol, enabling real-time, agent-to-agent transactions with settlement speeds as fast as 50 milliseconds. X402 allows payments to be embedded directly into HTTP requests, facilitating real-time payments for applications, APIs, and autonomous systems without relying on accounts or pre-funded balances. The integration expands X402's stablecoin support beyond USDC (cryptocurrency), increasing access to ERC's widely used USDT. Viktor Ihnatiuk, Co-Founder and CEO of Utexo, and Kevin Leffew, X402 Projects Lead at Coinbase, both highlighted the significance of this expansion for developers building autonomous and API-based services. This move is expected to accelerate the adoption of programmable payments as AI systems and autonomous agents become more prevalent.
