Anambra State Flood Prevention Initiative

Nigeria — Anambra State has announced 'Operation Clear Your Waterways 3.0,' a statewide initiative to clear drainage channels and waterways starting April 27. This action is a preventative measure against flooding and environmental degradation ahead of the rainy season. Tochukwu Obodogha, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, stated that the initiative aims to remove silt, debris, and waste materials. The directive applies to various public and private spaces, with warnings of sanctions for non-compliance. This follows a flood warning issued by the Nigeria, specifically identifying communities like Atani, Iyowa Odekpe, and Onitsha in Nigeria — Anambra State as high-risk areas.
