Clean Core Thorium Energy ANEEL™ Fuel Manufacturing

Clean Core Thorium Energy and Canada — Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Research Facilities have announced an agreement to manufacture demonstration irradiation (DI) bundles of ANEEL™ fuel. This milestone follows the successful completion of a collaborative Canadian Nuclear Research Initiative (CNRI) project, which validated the computer codes and analysis methods for ANEEL™ fuel design and safety. Canada — Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Research Facilities will lead the development, qualification, and manufacturing of these full-scale ANEEL™ fuel bundles at the Chalk River Laboratories, adhering to Canadian Standard Association requirements. This initiative is crucial for Clean Core Thorium Energy to conduct demonstration irradiation, providing practical in-reactor data to support future qualification and deployment of ANEEL™ fuel in CANDU reactors and other Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs). The ANEEL™ fuel, a patented technology combining Thorium with enriched Mega Uranium, is designed for higher burnup, improved fuel utilization, and reduced long-lived spent fuel volumes, aiming to enhance safety and cost-efficiency in nuclear plants. This development is a significant step towards the commercial readiness of ANEEL™ fuel, with regulatory progress already underway with the Canada — Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and irradiation testing planned at United States — Idaho National Laboratory.
