Manipur lifts internet ban

The government of India — Manipur has revoked the suspension of mobile internet and data services across five Imphal Valley districts, including Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur. This decision, announced by Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary of the India — Manipur Home Department, comes after a review of the improved law and order situation. The internet ban was initially imposed on April 7 following a deadly bomb attack in Bishnupur district, allegedly carried out by suspected Kuki militants, which killed two children and injured their mother. The suspension had caused significant inconvenience to the public and affected the functioning of various institutions and services. The India — Manipur government has also handed over the investigation of the bomb attack to the India — National Investigation Agency, while security forces continue operations and ensure the movement of essential items.
