Honor Robot Breaks Half-Marathon Record

A humanoid robot developed by Honour won a half-marathon race in Beijing, China, completing the 21-kilometer course in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. This time was faster than the human world record of 57 minutes held by Jacob Kiplimo. The race, hosted by China — Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, showcased China's significant technological leaps in robotics, with the winning robot utilizing autonomous navigation. The event saw a substantial increase in robot entries compared to the previous year, with over 100 teams participating. This development aligns with China's national strategy to target the frontiers of science and technology, including humanoid robots, as outlined in its 2026-2030 five-year plan. Technology research group Omdia recently ranked Chinese companies AGIBOT Innovation (Shanghai) Technology Company, Unitree Robotics, and UBTECH Robotics as leading vendors in general-purpose embodied intelligent robots, further underscoring China's growing influence in the sector.
