This partnership is expected to positively impact Nigeria's economy by boosting its Gross Domestic Product, reducing post-harvest losses, and fostering industrial capacity. It will create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and enterprises in agro-processing and solid minerals, leading to job creation and wealth retention within Nigeria.
The Bank of Industry (BOI) and the Nigeria — Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to strengthen Nigeria's agricultural value chain, enhance value addition of raw materials, and boost the country's Gross Domestic Product. The agreement addresses critical areas such as post-harvest losses, storage, processing, packaging, logistics, and market access. Both organizations, led by Olasupo Olusi and Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso respectively, will work together to convert research into bankable industrial investments, promote import substitution, and create jobs. A Joint Steering Committee has been established by Bank of Industry to ensure the sustainability and implementation of the MoU's objectives.
