The Series A funding for Hata, led by Bybit, is expected to significantly boost Malaysia's digital asset ecosystem, increasing adoption and innovation in the cryptocurrency market. This collaboration could lead to enhanced liquidity and new product offerings, benefiting investors and potentially increasing transaction volumes for both Hata and Bybit.
Hata, Malaysia's sole dual-licensed digital asset exchange, successfully closed an US$8 million Series A funding round. The round was led by Bybit, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange, and included participation from several global family offices. This investment deepens the strategic collaboration between Hata and Bybit, building on Bybit's earlier involvement in Hata's US$4.2 million seed round. The funds will be used by Hata to enhance platform liquidity, accelerate user growth through marketing initiatives, and jointly develop innovative digital asset products tailored for Malaysian users with Bybit. Both companies expressed a shared commitment to responsibly growing Malaysia's digital asset and tokenized real-world asset ecosystem. Hata, regulated by the Malaysia — Securities Commission Malaysia and the Malta — Malta Financial Services Authority, has seen rapid growth since its May 2023 launch, reaching over 209,000 registered users and processing RM1.04 billion in transaction volume in 2025. The company also expanded its product offerings in 2025, introducing staking services for Solana and an auto-invest feature.
