SpaceX's IPO preparations, including analyst meetings and financial disclosures, are generating significant market interest due to its ambitious $1.75 trillion valuation and $75 billion raise. The merger with Xai and X (social network) creates a unique conglomerate, leading investors to benchmark SpaceX against AI infrastructure companies like Palantir, GE Vernova, and Vertiv rather than traditional aerospace or telecom giants. The planned allocation of 30% of shares to retail investors, similar to Tesla, Inc., could also influence market dynamics.
SpaceX is accelerating its IPO plans, targeting a late June trading debut with an ambitious $1.75 trillion valuation and a $75 billion raise. The company is hosting three-day closed-door meetings for Wall Street analysts at its Starbase launch facility in Boca Chica, Texas, and its Colossus data center in Memphis, Tennessee, to provide insights into its operations and strategy. These briefings are a critical step in the IPO process, with some analysts already receiving confidential registration filings. The filings reveal that SpaceX swung to a $4.94 billion consolidated loss in 2025 due to heavy investments in Xai's artificial intelligence infrastructure, following Elon Musk's merger of Xai and X (social network) with SpaceX in February. CFO Bret Johnsen faces the challenge of justifying the lofty valuation, with investors using unconventional benchmarks like Palantir, GE Vernova, and Vertiv. Elon Musk also plans to allocate 30% of shares to retail investors, including international investors from the United Kingdom, European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, and will retain voting control through a dual-class share structure. Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, and Goldman Sachs are leading the deal as active bookrunners.
