This program aims to leverage emerging physical AI technologies to rapidly accelerate advanced, adaptive automation solutions in the fabrication process of crewed and uncrewed naval platforms. HYPR will integrate robotic welding, automated material movement, autonomous surface treatment, and autonomous quality checks into an assembly line to increase speed and efficiency in ship and submarine construction. Huntington Ingalls Industries plans proof-of-concept demonstrations in 2026, with a full pilot program expected in 2027.
