The Canada — Port of Vancouver and GCT Global Container Terminals have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore a partnership for the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 (RBT2) project at the Canada — Vancouver Island. This initiative aims to significantly increase container capacity, which is deemed essential for Canada's trade, supply chain resilience, and global competitiveness. As part of this agreement, GCT Global Container Terminals will withdraw its application for the separate Deltaport Berth 4 expansion project to focus its efforts on RBT2. Both entities will work exclusively for one year to negotiate a Joint Development Agreement, with Canada — Port of Vancouver continuing to lead landmass development and engagement with Indigenous communities.
