The market is positively impacted by Oroco Resource Corp.'s progress at its Santo Tomás copper project, as the addition of a second drill rig and ongoing Phase 2 drilling indicate a faster path to an updated Mineral Resource Estimate and Pre-Feasibility Study. This development could increase the perceived value of Oroco Resource Corp. and potentially impact the future supply outlook for Copper.
Oroco Resource Corp. has provided an update on its Phase 2 drill program at the Santo Tomás copper project in northwestern Mexico. A second diamond drill rig has been mobilized to the South Zone, accelerating the drilling cadence. Six holes have been completed, with two more in progress, and core from two holes has been submitted for assay. This program aims to upgrade the mineral resource classification through infill and confirmation drilling, supporting an updated Mineral Resource Estimate and a Pre-Feasibility Study. Craig Dalziel, Executive Chairman of Oroco Resource Corp., highlighted that every meter drilled increases the value of the project, which is considered one of the largest undeveloped copper porphyry projects in the Americas. The project's August 2024 Mineral Resource Estimate, prepared by FTI Consulting, outlined significant indicated and inferred resources, and the Preliminary Economic Assessment by Ausenco — Ausenco Engineering USA South Inc. projected a substantial after-tax NPV.
