Lebanese Journalist Killed in Israeli Airstrike

A Lebanese journalist, Amal Khalil, working for Akhbar, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. She and another journalist, Zeinab Faraj, had taken refuge in a house after an initial strike on a vehicle, but the house was subsequently targeted. Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam accused Israel of committing a war crime by deliberately targeting journalists and obstructing rescue efforts. Israel denied these accusations, stating its forces struck a vehicle carrying 'terrorists' from Hezbollah who had crossed a 'forward defense line'. The incident occurred during a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, further straining the fragile peace in the region.
