The market is impacted positively by XPeng's ambitious plans for future product launches in flying cars and humanoid robots, indicating potential for significant growth and diversification beyond traditional EVs. XPeng, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, announced its plans for large-scale production of 'flying' cars by 2027 and humanoid robots by the fourth quarter of 2026. Brian Gu, President of XPeng, stated that the company has already received over 7,000 orders for its flying cars, primarily from China, where it is seeking aviation authority approval. XPeng also intends to commence robotaxi tests in China — Guangzhou this year, with global tests planned for 2027. Gu anticipates that XPeng's robot business could eventually surpass its automotive division in size within 10-20 years. Furthermore, XPeng aims to significantly increase its overseas revenue, projecting over 50% of its total revenue to come from outside China within the next 5-10 years. The company also sees potential for expanded cooperation with Volkswagen, which recently began mass production of an EV model developed with XPeng.
