Nigerian Medical Association Suspends Bala Audu

The Canadian Medical Association is embroiled in a leadership crisis following the suspension of its National President, Bala Audu, by an Emergency Delegates Meeting. The dispute stems from Bala Audu's National Officers Committee's disqualification of six candidates from contesting in upcoming national elections, citing incomplete documentation. Delegates at the Emergency Delegates Meeting, however, rejected this justification, reversed the disqualifications, and established a caretaker committee led by Ekpe Phillips to manage the association's affairs. Bala Audu and Ben Egbo, the Secretary-General, have dismissed the suspension and the Emergency Delegates Meeting's resolutions as unconstitutional, vowing disciplinary action against those involved and insisting that the Annual Delegates Meeting and elections will proceed as scheduled. Emeka Ayogu and Umezurike Ikechukwu have criticized Bala Audu's leadership, emphasizing the need for unity and adherence to due process within the Canadian Medical Association.
