Judge Orders Release of Soliman Family

U.S. District Judge Samuel Frederick Biery Jr. ordered the release of Hayam El Gamal and her five children from immigration custody. Hayam El Gamal is the wife of 2025 Boulder fire attack, an Egyptian national charged with a fatal firebomb attack in Boulder, Colorado, against demonstrators supporting Israeli hostages in Gaza. Soliman is being prosecuted in both state and federal court for the attack, which injured 13 people and resulted in one death. The Trump administration had previously claimed the family was being rushed out of the country. Despite an immigration appeals court dismissing their case and issuing a deportation order, Samuel Frederick Biery Jr. denied the government's request to stay his ruling. The family's lawyers plan to appeal to the United States — United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to prevent deportation while they seek asylum.
