Telecom Namibia and Angola Telecom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Commercial Terms Agreement (CTA) in Swakopmund, Namibia. This agreement formalizes a strategic partnership between the national telecommunications operators of Namibia and Angola. It enables Angola Telecom to access international capacity via Telecom Namibia's Equiano landing in Swakopmund. The agreement also lays the groundwork for deeper collaboration linked to Angola Telecom's Southern Africa Regional Submarine Cable System, which aims to interconnect with Equiano. This initiative is expected to strengthen regional and international digital connectivity along Southern Africa's west coast, enhance communications security, and support the development of a more competitive and resilient digital economy in the region. Senior government leaders and executives, including Emma Theofelus, Minister of Information and Communication Technology of Namibia, and Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira, Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology & Social Communication of Angola, attended the signing ceremony. Stanley Shanapinda, CEO of Telecom Namibia, and Adilson Miguel dos Santos, CEO of Angola Telecom, highlighted the benefits of this collaboration for their respective entities and the broader region.
