Yale Model African Union Accra Conference

The fifth African Union conference successfully concluded in Ghana — Accra, Ghana, from March 13-15, 2026. The event gathered over 300 delegates, policymakers, and industry leaders from across Africa and the diaspora to discuss youth leadership and policy engagement under the theme 'Imagine, Challenge & Build the Africa We Want.' Key activities included AU committee simulations, leadership workshops, and an innovation pitch contest. A significant panel, 'Designing the Future: Creativity at the Intersection of Policy and Enterprise,' explored how innovation, policy, and private sector leadership can drive sustainable development. Dennis Sampong, Country Director of Fludor Ghana, emphasized the critical need to integrate youth into Ghana's cocoa value chain and the importance of private sector involvement in policy. He highlighted the demographic imperative of Africa's youth and the challenges of an aging farmer population in Ghana's cocoa sector, advocating for modern technologies to attract younger generations to agriculture. Other notable speakers included Audrey S-Darko of Sabon Sake, Jide Pratt of TradeGrid, Tara Squire of Ecobank Transnational — Ecobank Ghana, and Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere of the Council on Foreign Relations.
