Dangote Refinery 1.4M BPD Expansion

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, announced the expansion of the Dangote Refinery to a production capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day. This expansion is projected to create 95,000 skilled jobs at peak construction and will position the Dangote Refinery as the largest in the world, surpassing the Jamnagar refinery in India. The project aims to strengthen Nigeria's refining capacity, stimulate local manufacturing, enhance technology transfer, and deepen the country's oil and gas value chain. It is also expected to improve fuel security, reduce dependence on imported petroleum products, and deliver significant foreign exchange savings for the Nigerian economy. The announcement was made during Aliko Dangote's induction as an Honorary Fellow of the China — Chinese Academy of Engineering in Lagos.
