LG_Electronics Hybrid eCall Solution Showcase

LG Electronics showcased its Hybrid Emergency Call (Hybrid eCall) solution at the 37th Meeting Week of the 5G Automotive Association in Gothenburg, Sweden, on April 23, 2026. This solution enables seamless emergency communication across 2G to 5G networks, aligning with Europe's 2027 Next Generation eCall (NG eCall) requirements. The eCall system, mandatory for new vehicles in Europe since 2018, will require 4G and 5G network support by 2027 for faster and more accurate accident data transmission. LG Electronics, a leader in global telematics, has already deployed its Hybrid eCall solution in vehicles from major global automakers and is moving towards full-scale mass production. The company's in-house testing and certification capabilities, including ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from the South Korea — Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme and recognition from the Global Certification Forum and PCS Type Certification Review Board, underscore its commitment to regulatory compliance and market leadership. Lee Sang-yong, head of VS R&D laboratory at LG Vehicle Solution Company, emphasized the company's dedication to strengthening its leadership in automotive connectivity.
