The positive preliminary 3-year data for Concept Medical's MagicTouch PTA product could lead to increased adoption of sirolimus-coated balloons in peripheral interventions, potentially impacting the medical device market. This development strengthens Concept Medical's position in drug-delivery technologies, which could attract further investment or partnerships in the biotechnology sector.
Concept Medical Inc. announced the presentation of preliminary 3-year follow-up data from its SIRONA randomised trial at the Charing Cross Symposium 2026. The trial evaluated sirolimus-coated versus paclitaxel-coated balloon angioplasty in femoropopliteal artery disease. The data, presented by Principal Investigator Ulf Teichgräber, showed that MagicTouch PTA, a sirolimus-coated balloon, had higher freedom from clinically driven target lesion revascularization (cdTLR) compared to paclitaxel-coated balloons (88.2% vs 80.2%). These findings suggest that sirolimus-coated balloon angioplasty may provide more durable long-term outcomes. Manish Doshi, Founder and Managing Director of Concept Medical, highlighted the company's commitment to long-term clinical science and generating high-quality data.
