India Appoints Dinesh Trivedi Bangladesh Envoy

India has appointed former Union minister Dinesh Trivedi as its next High Commissioner to Bangladesh. This decision comes as both India and Bangladesh seek to repair and strengthen bilateral ties, which were strained during the interim government in Bangladesh led by Muhammad Yunus. Dinesh Trivedi will succeed Pranay Kumar Verma, who has been appointed as India's ambassador to Belgium and the European Union. The appointment is part of ongoing efforts to reset relations, which have seen intensified diplomatic engagement, including a recent visit by Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman to New Delhi for discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, and people-to-people ties. The new government in Bangladesh, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has been working to stabilize relations since taking office.
