The addition of BitGo as a custodian by Virtune is a positive development for the digital asset market, enhancing the security and regulatory compliance of crypto ETPs. This move could increase institutional confidence in digital asset investments, potentially leading to greater adoption and liquidity in the cryptocurrency market.
Virtune, a Swedish digital asset manager, announced the addition of BitGo as an additional custodian for three of its Exchange Traded Products (ETPs), effective April 30, 2026. BitGo Europe GmbH will operate alongside the existing custodian, Coinbase — Coinbase Custody Trust Company, for Virtune Crypto Altcoin Index ETP, Virtune Crypto Top 10 Index ETP SEK, and Virtune Crypto Top 10 Index ETP EUR. This strategic move aims to strengthen Virtune's ETP offering and enhance the security infrastructure for its digital asset products. BitGo, a publicly traded digital asset infrastructure company founded by Mike Belshe, provides regulated custody, wallets, staking, trading, and other services, and operates BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, under the U.S. United States — Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The change is not expected to affect investors or trading in Virtune's ETPs.
