Cognizant Acquires Astreya for $600M

Cognizant Technology Solutions has agreed to acquire Astreya, an IT services and technology provider specializing in AI infrastructure and data center services, for approximately $600 million. The deal, expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, aims to bolster Cognizant's AI capabilities and help clients operationalize platform-led AI systems at scale. This acquisition is part of Cognizant's ongoing strategy to expand its AI business, following previous acquisitions of 3Cloud and Belcan. Astreya, founded in 2001, has managed data center infrastructure and AI lab environments for several major tech firms. Cognizant's CEO, Ravi Kumar S., emphasized that Astreya's proprietary AI tooling and production-grade infrastructure platform will complement Cognizant's existing AI builder stack. The move comes as Cognizant has seen its market value decline, partly due to weak demand outlook for IT services and AI-driven deflation fears, making this strategic acquisition crucial for its future growth.
