Tinubu Endorses Hamzat for Lagos Governor

President Bola Tinubu, along with Nigeria — Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), has endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as the Nigeria — All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Nigeria — Lagos State. This series of endorsements, which began with Babajide Sanwo-Olu publicly backing his deputy, was followed by the GAC's unanimous decision at Lagos House, Marina, and culminated in Bola Tinubu's support in Abuja. The GAC also committed to purchasing the N50 million governorship nomination form for Obafemi Hamzat. While a consensus candidate has been chosen, the Nigeria — All Progressives Congress plans to conduct primaries for all positions to ensure a level playing field. This move consolidates political support around Obafemi Hamzat, an engineer and technocrat who has served as deputy governor since 2019, highlighting a trajectory of continuity within Nigeria — Lagos State's political landscape.
