Media Urges Israel Lift Gaza Ban

Leaders of major media companies, including Associated Press, BBC, CNN, NBCUniversal — MS NOW, Reuters, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, and The Washington Post, are urging Israel to lift a ban on foreign journalists independently entering Gaza Strip. This ban has been in place since 2023, despite a ceasefire. Israel initially cited security concerns and active battle conditions, but media organizations argue these rationales are no longer valid. The Foreign Press Association has filed a petition with the Israel — Supreme Court of Israel for access, but a ruling has been repeatedly delayed. The ban has left coverage primarily to local Palestinian journalists, who face significant risks, including hunger and military actions, with over 200 journalists killed. Mariam Dagga, Hussam al-Masri, and Moaz Abu Taha are among those killed in an Israeli strike.
