NNPC Completes OB3 River Niger Crossing

The NNPC (NNPC) Gas Infrastructure Company, a subsidiary of NNPC, has successfully completed the technically challenging River Niger Crossing on the 130-kilometre Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline. This milestone, achieved in collaboration with PCE Nigeria Limited using advanced horizontal directional drilling technology, unlocks the full capacity of the OB3 Pipeline, which is designed to transport up to two billion standard cubic feet of gas per day. The project is crucial for Nigeria's energy infrastructure, aiming to enhance energy availability, improve gas supply reliability, and drive national economic development by supporting power generation and industrial growth. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, highlighted the achievement as a testament to disciplined execution and engineering capability, building on previous successes like the AKK River Niger Crossing. The OB3 Pipeline will connect Nigeria's Eastern and Western gas networks and extend supply to the Northern corridor, with an expected near-term increase of over 500 million standard cubic feet of gas for the domestic market and West African exports. The Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu's 'Gas-to-Prosperity' agenda, and the NNPC Board of Directors, led by Ahmadu Musa Kida, were acknowledged for their support.
