African business leaders, investors, and policymakers convened a high-level Private Sector Forum in Ethiopia — Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on April 27, 2026. Deribe Asfaw, CEO of Cooperative Bank of Oromia, showcased the Michu digital lending platform, which has disbursed ETB 52 billion (USD 400 million) to nearly 3 million customers, creating 2.7 million jobs and demonstrating a successful model for supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The forum emphasized the private sector's crucial role in driving industrial transformation and achieving Africa's development ambitions.
