Israel Intercepts Gaza Aid Flotilla

Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla, comprising over 50 vessels carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, in international waters off Greece. Around 175 activists were removed, with two prominent figures, Saif Abukeshak from Spain and Thiago Ávila from Brazil, taken to Israel for questioning. Israel alleges their affiliation with the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, an organization sanctioned by the United States Treasury for its alleged ties to Hamas. Spain and Brazil have vehemently condemned the detentions as illegal, demanding the immediate release of their citizens and accusing Israel of 'kidnapping.' This incident has further strained diplomatic relations between Israel and Spain, which had already deteriorated due to the Gaza war. The United States, however, supported Israel's actions, labeling the flotilla a 'pro-Hamas initiative.' Organizers of the flotilla reported mistreatment of activists and damage to their vessels, while Israel denied these accusations. The event has sparked international protests and calls for legal action against Israel.
