The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved two new semiconductor projects under the India — India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). These projects, involving Crystal Matrix Limited and Suchi Semicon Private Limited, will bring a cumulative investment of approximately Rs 3,936 crore and create 2,230 skilled jobs. Crystal Matrix Limited will establish an integrated compound semiconductor fabrication and ATMP facility in Dholera, India — Gujarat, focusing on Mini/Micro-LED display modules and GaN foundry services. Suchi Semicon Private Limited will set up an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Surat, India — Gujarat, for manufacturing discrete semiconductors. These approvals increase the total number of projects under the India — India Semiconductor Mission to 12, with cumulative investments reaching around Rs 1.64 lakh crore, further strengthening India's semiconductor ecosystem and reducing import reliance.
