India is set to host its first International Ophthalmology Research Conference, named All-India Ophthalmological Society - Armed Forces Ophthalmology Update (AIOS-AFOU 2026), from May 9 to 10 at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment. The event is organized by the Department of Ophthalmology at India — Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in collaboration with All-India Ophthalmological Society. Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth will inaugurate the conference, which will be attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, the three Service Chiefs, and the Defence Secretary. The conference will gather nearly 200 ophthalmologists from across India, including military eye specialists, and over 100 distinguished faculty from leading institutes. Internationally acclaimed ophthalmologists Harminder Dua from University of Nottingham and Colin Siang Hui Tan from Tan Tock Seng Hospital will also participate. The event aims to cover the latest advances in ophthalmology, foster civil-military cooperation, and provide a platform for young ophthalmologists to learn from experts.
