The proactive steps by India to maximize benefits from its free trade agreements are expected to positively impact various sectors like agriculture, textiles, and pharmaceuticals, potentially boosting India's exports and strengthening its position in global value chains. This initiative could lead to increased trade volumes and improved economic growth for India.

India is actively developing an FTA utilisation plan to maximize the benefits from its numerous free trade agreements (FTAs) signed with 38 countries since 2021, including Mauritius, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, New Zealand, the European Free Trade Association, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has held several meetings with industry associations and officials to strategize on increasing FTA utilization and boosting exports and domestic manufacturing. The plan also involves Indian missions abroad and various line ministries to address non-tariff barriers and align with global standards. This initiative aims to increase India's goods and services exports to $2 trillion in the coming years, building on the $863.11 billion achieved in 2025-26.
