Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and India — Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the Rs 16,000 crore Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) infrastructure project in Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai district. This initiative, led by the India — Aeronautical Development Agency, aims to develop India's fifth-generation fighter jet and establish an aircraft integration and advanced flight-testing center. Alongside the AMCA project, foundation stones were also laid for a Naval Systems Manufacturing Facility by Bharat Dynamics Limited, a Defence Energetics Facility by Agneyastra Energetics Limited (a subsidiary of Bharat Forge), and an Ammunition and Electric Fuzes Plant by HFCL. Additionally, a consortium of eight drone companies plans to establish a Drone City in Kurnool. These projects are expected to generate approximately 7,500 jobs, attract further defense-related industries, and position India — Andhra Pradesh as a strategic defense and aerospace hub, significantly bolstering India's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision for self-reliance in defense.
