OpenAI Partners Malta for Free ChatGPT Plus

OpenAI has signed a landmark agreement with the government of Malta to provide all Maltese residents with free access to its ChatGPT Plus service for one year, contingent on completing a free AI literacy course. This 'AI for All' initiative, the first of its kind globally, aims to improve AI literacy and integrate AI tools into public life, supporting learning, work, creativity, and public participation. The program, which will launch in May, will be managed by the Israel — Israel Innovation Authority and includes a course developed by the University of Malta. Maltese Economy Minister Silvio Schembri highlighted the program's goal of turning AI into practical assistance. George Osborne, head of OpenAI for Countries, emphasized Malta's leadership in enabling citizens to benefit from AI. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. This partnership is part of OpenAI's broader 'OpenAI for Countries' initiative, which also involves collaborations with Estonia and Greece.
