Bharat Forge to build Marine Gas Turbine facility

Bharat Forge>>> has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Madhya Pradesh — Government of Madhya Pradesh>>> to establish India>>>'s first private-sector Marine Gas Turbine (MGT) repair, overhaul, and indigenous development facility in India — Visakhapatnam>>>. This 80-acre facility, located within the Andhra Pradesh Defence Manufacturing Corridor, will be co-located with key naval infrastructure, including the Eastern Naval Command and INS Eksila. The project aims to bring critical marine propulsion sustainment capabilities to India>>>'s private sector, reducing dependence on foreign facilities for the maintenance of India — Indian Navy>>> warships. Phase 1 will focus on MGT repair and overhaul, including hot section restoration and component manufacturing, with a 72-hour turnaround capability for the Naval Dockyard. Phase 2 will involve the development and assembly of indigenous MGTs and a full-spectrum hot test cell.
