Jammu and Kashmir Census 2027 Self-Enumeration

More than 1.50 lakh households in India — Jammu and Kashmir have successfully completed their self-enumeration for Census 2027 within the first three days of its launch on May 17. Amit Sharma, Chief Principal Census Officer and Director Census Operations for India — Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, reported enthusiastic participation across urban, rural, hilly, and far-flung areas, including District, India — Baramulla district, and India — Kupwara. The India — Directorate of Census Operations has implemented extensive awareness campaigns, media outreach, and support systems to facilitate this first fully digital and paperless census. Special arrangements are being made in coordination with departments like the Unknown — Indian Forest Service, India — Ministry of Education (India), India — Ministry of Law and Justice (India), and India — Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries to ensure comprehensive coverage of migratory and nomadic tribal populations, including Gujjar and Bakarwal communities. The self-enumeration portal and mobile applications are designed to function effectively even in low-connectivity areas. Amit Sharma (civil servant) appealed to all residents of India — Jammu and Kashmir to provide accurate information, emphasizing that all data collected remains confidential under the Census Act, 1948, and no sensitive financial details are requested.
