Dangote Group, led by Aliko Dangote, has initiated preliminary activities for the multi-billion-dollar Olokola Deep Seaport project within the Nigeria — Olokola Free Trade Zone, spanning Nigeria — Ogun State and Nigeria — Ondo State in Nigeria. This project is a crucial part of Dangote Group's Vision 2030 strategy to expand into maritime infrastructure and export-led industrialization, aiming for $100 billion in annual revenue. The deep seaport, envisioned as Africa's largest, will serve as a strategic logistics and export hub, facilitating exports of fertilizers, petrochemicals, and refined petroleum products, and supporting future Liquefied Natural Gas exports. Jamil Abubakar, Managing Director of Infrastructure & Logistics, has engaged host communities, who have expressed strong support and optimism for the project's economic potential, including job creation and long-term development. The Nigeria — Nigerian Navy has also pledged cooperation. The project is expected to alleviate pressure on existing Nigerian ports like Nigeria — Port of Apapa and Nigeria — Tin Can Island Port, enhance Nigeria's competitiveness in regional and global trade, and boost participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area.
