The planned IPO of Metric prefix for Rs 11,000-crore in July is expected to significantly impact the quick commerce sector by introducing a new publicly traded competitor. This will intensify competition for existing players like Zomato and Swiggy, potentially influencing their market strategies and investor valuations.
Quick commerce platform Metric prefix is preparing to launch its Rs 11,000-crore Initial Public Offering (IPO) in July, with a target listing date before July 31. The Bengaluru-based startup, founded by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, recently received approval from the India — Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for its public issue. Metric prefix is pursuing a distinct growth strategy, focusing on market density and operational intensity in metro markets rather than rapid geographic expansion, as highlighted by a Ben Bernstein report. The company operates 1,255 dark stores across 61 cities, with a high concentration of 21 stores per city. This public market push follows strong private funding support, including a $450 million round led by CalPERS (CalPERS) in October 2025, which valued Metric prefix at $7 billion. Metric prefix achieved unicorn status in August 2023 with a $1.4 billion valuation.
