The positive topline results from the Phase 3 REDUCE 2 study for pozdeutinurad are expected to have a significant positive impact on Swedish Orphan Biovitrum's stock price, as the drug addresses a substantial unmet medical need in gout treatment. This breakthrough could also attract further investment into the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors focused on rare diseases and inflammatory conditions.
Swedish Orphan Biovitrum announced positive topline results from its pivotal Phase 3 REDUCE 2 study for pozdeutinurad (AR882), an investigational oral selective URAT1 inhibitor for gout. Both 50mg and 75mg doses of pozdeutinurad met the primary efficacy endpoint, significantly reducing serum uric acid levels to below 6 mg/dL at month 6 compared to placebo. The drug was well-tolerated, with a safety profile consistent with previous studies. These findings support pozdeutinurad's potential to address unmet needs in gout treatment and form a strong basis for regulatory submissions. Swedish Orphan Biovitrum acquired Arthrosi, Inc. in February 2026, adding pozdeutinurad to its global development portfolio. Detailed results are anticipated at a scientific congress in Q4, and data from the companion REDUCE 1 study are expected in the second half of 2026.
