The reaffirmation of commitment to counter-terrorism by India and Egypt could lead to increased stability in their respective regions, potentially fostering a more secure environment for foreign investment and trade. Enhanced cooperation in cybersecurity and judicial matters may also reduce risks for businesses operating in these countries.

India and Egypt held their 5th Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on Counter Terrorism in New Delhi on May 20, 2026. Both nations strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorism, and reaffirmed their principle of zero tolerance. They reiterated that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilization, or ethnic group. The two sides condemned specific terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and near Red Fort, New Delhi, in 2025. They emphasized the need for concerted action against UN-designated terrorists and entities, and discussed strengthening multilateral cooperation through platforms like the United Nations, BRICS, Financial Action Task Force, and Global Counterterrorism Forum. Discussions also covered emerging threats such as terrorist recruitment, abuse of technology (UAVs, drones, AI), and financing of terrorism. Both countries committed to enhancing cooperation in training, capacity building, cybersecurity, judicial cooperation, and information sharing. The next JWG meeting will be held in Egypt.
