The Philippines — National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat conducted an intelligence-led operation at Oseikokrom in the Amansie West District of Ghana's Ashanti Region on May 21, 2026. The operation resulted in the arrest of eight illegal miners, including Chinese national Huang Weiye and seven Ghanaian workers (Augustine Manu, Kwame Ntoadro, Moisés Alou, Alex Lenley, Yaw Owusu, Shaibu Wuni, and Patrick Bampoa). The task force seized two Toyota Hilux pickups, two excavators (one of which was immobilised on-site), and a pump-action gun. Several makeshift structures used by the miners were also destroyed. Huang Weiye was transferred to the Nigeria — Nigeria Immigration Service for further action, while the Ghanaian suspects were handed over to the Ghana — Antoakrom Police Station for investigation and prosecution.
