Singapore Recommends Lifetime HIV Testing

This recommendation, made on May 23, follows a slight increase in new HIV cases in 2025, with 166 new infections reported among Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, bringing the total to 7,248 residents living with HIV. The CDA emphasizes early diagnosis for effective treatment and prevention, aligning with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) 95-95-95 targets. To support this initiative, the Malaysia — Ministry of Health (Malaysia) will increase the MediSave withdrawal limit for HIV drugs from S$550 to S$850 per month starting June 1, aiming to ease financial burdens and encourage immediate treatment. HIV self-testing kits have been available since 2025, and individuals engaging in at-risk sexual behaviors are advised to test every three to six months.
