Lagos State N2.13bn Welfare Disbursement

The Nigeria — Government of Lagos State has disbursed over N2.13 billion to 3,301 vulnerable residents in the last year through the Eko Cares Financial Assistance Programme, with cumulative disbursements exceeding N4.6 billion since 2020. This initiative, a flagship social intervention program, provides direct cash grants, medical support, educational assistance, housing interventions, and business start-up funding to indigent residents, students, elderly citizens, persons living with disabilities, small business owners, and vulnerable households. The government has earmarked N3.14 billion for the program in the 2026 budget. Additionally, the Mother, Infant and Child Development Programme provided nutritional support to 2,315 pregnant women, with over N641 million spent since its inception. The Nigeria — Government of Lagos State also distributed 20,000 food packs to approximately 100,000 residents to cushion economic hardship. Civic engagement efforts included educating 17,783 students and engaging 89,122 residents on governance and civic duties. Voter education campaigns reached 78,750 participants in collaboration with the Nigeria — Independent National Electoral Commission and the Nigeria — Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission. The CitizensGate digital platform recorded over 750,000 users and resolved 490 feedback reports, enhancing citizen-government interaction. The Nigeria — Lagos State House of Assembly passed eight bills into law, and the 19th Executive-Legislative Parley adopted 29 resolutions. These efforts underscore the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration's commitment to inclusive governance and social welfare.
